With Yoenis Cespedes signed, all eyes are now focused on his fellow countryman, Jorge Soler.

The 19-year-old right-handed slugger from Cuba is considered baseball’s next biggest thing and the majority of baseball’s big-market teams are rumored to be interested in the 6-foot-3, 205-pounder.

According to reports from MLB.com and Ken Rosenthal, the Red Sox are among teams reportedly interested in the prospect.

Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo told Rosenthal that he expects Soler to receive more than the $15.5 million contract that the Rangers gave Cuban outfielder Leonys Martin.

Other teams reportedly interested are the Yankees, Phillies, Blue Jays, Orioles, Red Sox, Cubs and White Sox.

Once Soler gains residency in the Dominican Republic, MLB can declare him a free agent. However, he still must be legally cleared by the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control before he can sign a contract.

Theo Epstein and Ben Cherington became great friends while working together in the Red Sox organization, so although Epstein is now with the Cubs, the two will be pulling for each other in their new positions.

Epstein and Cherington both admitted that they'll be rooting for the other's team, except when the two teams meet up in Chicago in June. They also spoke glowingly of their time together in Boston, during which each learned a great deal from each other.

NESN's Jayme Parker caught up with Cherington and Epstein at the Hot Stove Cool Music Roundtable in Boston this past week. And although she tried to get some answers as to what the Red Sox will receive as compensation from the Cubs for Epstein, the two were focused on the evening's festivities and helping to raise money for a good cause.

The most recent MLB Hall of Fame voting may have been the calm before the storm, because when the voters are asked to decide who belongs in Cooperstown the next time around, there's going to be plenty of controversy before a single vote is even submitted.

Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds are among those who will be on the ballot in 2013. Voters have shied away from inducting those linked to performance-enhancing drugs so far, but Clemens and Bonds are by far the biggest names when it comes to suspected PED users.

Because of the skepticism, NESN's Peter Gammons doesn't think Clemens will get a Hall call right away. However, Gammons does feel like it would be strange to not have The Rocket get in eventually.

A few Red Sox hurlers will be eligible for the Hall of Fame within the coming years. And while Pedro Martinez seems like a lock, and Roger Clemens‘ candidacy is hindered by his link to performance-enhancing drugs, Curt Schilling is the ultimate toss-up for some.

Not for NESN’s Peter Gammons — who is a Hall of Famer himself.

Gammons feels that Schilling is undoubtedly a Hall of Famer, which is likely a sentiment echoed by many Sox fans who still have visions of the right-hander battling for seven innings against the Yankees with a bloody sock in Game 6 of the 2004 ALCS.

Schilling will forever be a Red Sox legend, but will his clutch performances be good enough for him to earn induction into Cooperstown? Check out Gammons’ argument in the video above from Red Sox Hot Stove Live.

It took a while, but the Yankees finally made a big splash this offseason, acquiring pitchers Michael Pineda and Hiroki Kuroda on the same day.

Pineda was acquired via a trade with the Mariners, while Kuroda was signed to a one-year deal as a free agent. Both figure to be a big part of New York's pitching staff this season, shoring up an area that had previously been one of concern for the Bronx Bombers.

Suddenly, the Yankees pitching staff looks formidable. In fact, it might be one of the team's strengths in the near future, as Pineda adds to a good young core of pitching prospects. NESN's Peter Gammons examines how the notion that the Yankees don't develop pitching is actually false.

Gammons also looks at the Red Sox' Vicente Padilla signing, and how the Boston staff could evolve throughout the season as everyone's role starts to get sorted out.

Check it all out in the video above from Red Sox Hot Stove Live.

Both Daniel Bard and Alfredo Aceves will enter spring training as a starter this season. And while it remains to be seen whether or not each will stay in that capacity for all of 2012, their versatility has already had a huge impact for the Red Sox.

Boston general manager Ben Cherington said on Tuesday that the team has explored adding both starting pitching help and bullpen help. They've already added a pair of bullpen arms in Andrew Bailey and Mark Melancon, and Cherington was quick to point out that Bard's and Aceves' willingness to join the rotation was key in making those moves.

Cherington said that having two pitchers who are fully capable of shifting to the rotation meant the Sox could add either type of pitcher when exploring deals. He said they'll still look to add pitching depth before Opening Day, but they've at least been able to make the best deals possible without having to spend too much for one specific type of hurler.

To hear more from Cherington, check out the video above from Red Sox Hot Stove Live.

Andrew Bailey may have headlined the Red Sox' recent trade with the Athletics, but Ryan Sweeney could be a name Sox fans begin to hear more as the season approaches.

Sweeney, who also arrived from Oakland in the deal, is one of the players who could be fighting for playing time in right field this season. General manager Ben Cherington spoke very highly of Sweeney's skill set, saying that the 26-year-old can play solid defense and has the ability to go the other way, meaning he could leave a few dents on the Green Monster in 2012.

Cherington also discussed Darnell McDonald's role this season, and the GM feels the Sox don't necessarily have to make a move in order to bolster the lineup before Opening Day. Cherington also believes there's enough pop in the lineup as constructed, meaning the focus has been primarily on adding pitching depth.

To hear more from Cherington on the Red Sox' current right-field situation, check out the video above from Red Sox Hot Stove Live.
