In the finals of the "Red Sox Showdown for the Ages," it's going to be Pedro Martinez going up against Ted Williams in what would truly be a showdown for the ages.
The WhatIfSports.com simulation results are in, and the 2003 and 1946 Red Sox teams have earned the right to meet in the finals of the 16-team tournament to determine the best team in Sox history.
The champion will be determined in a seven-game series that will start Friday, July 8, with the winner being crowned during the Major League Baseball All-Star break.

No. 14 2003 (56.9 percent) defeats No. 7 1918
You could say that the final victim of the "Curse of the Bambino" was the 2003 Red Sox. The Sox saw their lead evaporate in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series and another opportunity was lost. Yet, in the "Red Sox Showdown for the Ages," it's the 2003 team exacting some revenge on Babe Ruth and his 1918 Red Sox team, as Grady Little's bunch moves onto the finals.
No. 12 1946 (60.8 percent) defeats No. 8 2008
The 2008 team rolled along throughout the first two rounds, but once it reached the semifinals, Ted Williams' 1946 team proved to be too much for the '08 AL runner-up. In the previous rounds, it was all about hitting for the '46 bunch, but they reach the finals thanks to their pitching in the semfinals.
