Ernie Johnson is one of the best studio hosts in television, tasked with keeping Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley in line and on topic during TNT’s NBA broadcasts.

Tuesday night, Johnson was recognized for his work with a Sports Emmy for best studio host. Instead of accepting the award, though, he did something amazing: he gave it away.

Johnson invited the daughters of the late ESPN broadcaster Stuart Scott, Sydni and Taelor, on stage. He presented the two with the trophy, simply stating “This belongs with Stuart Scott,” before receiving a standing ovation from the audience comprised of his peers in the industry.

Scott passed away in January after a long battle with cancer.

Bravo, EJ. This truly was cooler than the other side of the pillow.
