Green’s Dream: Patriots Lineman Wants to Play for Saints

Could Jarvis Green's career as a Patriot be coming to an end?

Maybe. Maybe not. It's unclear after the defensive lineman made some ambiguous statements about his future in the NFL.

The 30-year-old Green, who has been a critical component of New England's defense since 2002, told Louisiana's Houmatoday.com, "This is my last year with the Patriots. I'd love to come home and finish off as a Saint."

Green, who grew up in Donaldsville and attended Louisiana State, sounds like he's suffering from a bit of homesickness. He told the Web site, "I miss Louisiana — I miss the food, I miss the people, and I miss the weather. In two or three months, it's 10-15 degrees in New England, so I like this 90-100 degree weather."

After a small firestorm from the Boston-based media, Green clarified his statements, telling the Boston Globe, "Me being from Louisiana and playing at LSU and all that, you say it would be a dream to play for the Saints. But I'd love to stay a Patriot, if that happens. I've been there seven years, won a lot of games, two Super Bowls … If I could retire as a Patriot, that would be a dream."

So let's get this straight: Home cooking over playing for what has proven to be one of the NFL's most dominant franchises over the past decade?

Which would you choose?

In 108 games in New England, Green has registered 136 tackles, nine forced fumbles, six recovered fumbles and one touchdown.
