Could Jarvis Green's career as a Patriot be coming to an end?
Maybe. Maybe not. It's unclear after the defensive lineman made some ambiguous statements about his future in the NFL.
The 30-year-old Green, who has been a critical component of New England's defense since 2002, told Louisiana's Houmatoday.com, "This is my last year with the Patriots. I'd love to come home and finish off as a Saint."
Green, who grew up in Donaldsville and attended Louisiana State, sounds like he's suffering from a bit of homesickness. He told the Web site, "I miss Louisiana — I miss the food, I miss the people, and I miss the weather. In two or three months, it's 10-15 degrees in New England, so I like this 90-100 degree weather."
After a small firestorm from the Boston-based media, Green clarified his statements, telling the Boston Globe, "Me being from Louisiana and playing at LSU and all that, you say it would be a dream to play for the Saints. But I'd love to stay a Patriot, if that happens. I've been there seven years, won a lot of games, two Super Bowls … If I could retire as a Patriot, that would be a dream."
