Lakers Talks With Odom Resume, But Has Lamar Learned His Lesson?

The word out of L.A. is that the Lakers have resumed contract talks with free agent forward Lamar Odom.

The discussions were even productive, according to the L.A. Times.

That, of course, is good news for the Lakers and presents a much different portrait than last week's debacle.

Still, the offseason for Odom has to be disconcerting for Laker fans. Fresh off a championship, the last thing anyone could have wanted would be to have a key member of the team causing a stink over a contract.

That's exactly what Odom and his agent have done, opting to fuss over a year or two here, a million or two there. Now, it appears as though Odom may have shot himself in the foot, with reports saying the Lakers may have lowered their initial offer.

Though the report says that no deal is immediately imminent, it appears as though Odom will end up in L.A., which is what he wanted all along. The road to get there, however, has taken one too many unnecessary turns and has dampened the excitement that re-signing a player of Odom's caliber normally generates.
