Rangers Sign Defenseman Klassen of WHL

The Rangers agreed to terms with free agent defenseman Sam Klassen, general manager Glen Sather announced on Tuesday.

Klassen, 20, played for the Saskatoon Blades last season, registering two goals and 18 assists for 20 points in 72 games. He racked up 92 penalty minutes and set career-highs in games played, goals and plus-minus rating (plus-27).

A native of Watrous, Saskatchewan, Klassen played in 182 games in his three-year WHL career. He had four goals and 47 assists for 51 points to go along with 247 penalty minutes
