After sitting out over three months of the regular season due to his contract demands, Pedro Martinez may have finally found a taker.

According to a report from ESPN.com, it is rumored that Martinez flew to Philadelphia on Monday and is set to take a physical for the Phillies on Tuesday.

If all goes well, the three-time Cy Young Award winner likely will
sign a contract with the Phils for a prorated $4 million salary.

The deal is not a surprising one, as the Phillies and Martinez have
been linked for quite a while. As recently as last Thursday, Pedro said
his agent was negotiating to bring the 37-year-old to Philadelphia.

Martinez threw for the Phillies twice in the Dominican Republic last
week — both three-inning simulated games against a Phillies summer
league team — and apparently convinced the GM Ruben Amaro Jr. that he is in condition to help the team.

The Phillies, who lost No. 2 starter Brett Myers to potentially season-ending hip surgery earlier this year, rank 25th in the majors with a 4.61 team ERA.
