While one All-Star game wraps up in St. Louis, another one is just coming together in Connecticut.

On Tuesday, the WNBA announced its starting lineups for the 2009 All-Star Game, with Indiana forward Tamika Catchings earning a starting spot after tallying the most votes in the East at 94,316. Catchings will be joined by Fever teammate Katie Douglas, Candice Dupree and Sylvia Fowles of the Chicago Sky, and Washington’s Alana Beard.

In the West, San Antonio guard Becky Hammon earned the most votes (88,991) and will take the court with Seattle teammates Swin Cash, Lauren Jackson and Sue Bird. Los Angeles center Lisa Leslie rounds out the West’s starting five.

Leslie, who plans to retire at the end of the season, has appeared
in a league-best eight All-Star Games and has been named MVP three
times. She earned a fourth-best 80,748 votes in the West.

The game will be played on July 25 at Mohegan Sun Arena, with Indiana coach Lin Dunn holding the reins for the East, while the West will be directed by San Antonio’s Dan Hughes.

WNBA coaches will vote to select six reserves from each conference
to round out the rosters. They are not permitted to vote for their own
players.
