Young Bruin Goggin Feels at Home in the Hub

Welcome (back) to Boston, Mark Goggin.

Despite the Bruins' 18-year-old prospect taking part in just his
second Bruins Development Camp last week, the Chicago native feels
right at home in Boston. Aside from playing prep school hockey at
Choate-Rosemary in Conn., Goggin is very familiar with the Boston area,
thanks to some relatives located in the Hub.

“I’m from Chicago but all my family is from Boston and I spent summer’s up here,” Goggin told bostonbruins.com.
“And every year for my birthday (July 29) my grandfather takes me to
Red Sox games. So I’ve been going to Red Sox games for longer than I
can remember."

This year, the B's prospects were treated to another Fenway night,
sending Goggin and his teammates back to the ball yard for a game.

The trip was designed to get Goggin and the 24 other young players
to get comfortable around each other and develop and good bond before
they head off in other directions, either to college or minor leagues.
This year, Goggin felt a lot more at ease at the camp and with his
fellow campers.

“It’s been a lot more fun getting to know everybody here,” said
Goggin. “It’s my second year…so it’s been a lot better than last
year. I feel more comfortable.”

The 5-foot-11, 177-pound center notched 19 goals and 24 helpers in
his final season with the Choate Wild Boars, and will stay in the area
next fall as he's committed to play for Dartmouth, joining his older
brother Connor, a 6-foot-1 defenseman on the Big Green.
