Brady said he expects to be ready to start when New England takes the field in the 2009 season opener against Buffalo on Sept. 14.
"I certainly am expecting [to be ready]," he told the radio show. "The hit that I took, I just fell awkwardly, and any time a 350-pound man lands on you, most people would be a little bit sore — which I was. But I'm really looking forward to this week and getting prepared for this game, and then Buffalo is right around the corner."
At the end of the second half of New England's exhibition win over Washington on Friday, Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth fell directly on top of Brady, drilling his shoulder into the ground.
When asked if there is a possibility he won't be able to play against the Bills, Brady downplayed concern.
"Well, I mean, there's a chance I won't make it down to the stadium in the next 30 minutes," he said. "There's a lot of time before that game, and like I said, there's a lot of players on our team that have bumps and bruises. I have bumps and bruises. It's a physical game."
Taking a page from the playbook of his coach, Brady was evasive when it came to offering up specifics about the allegedly injured shoulder.
"The reality is, no matter what I say, you know, no matter how confident I am, we're just going to have to wait until Sept. 14 — or hopefully, this Thursday, if Coach lets us play," he said. "I mean, traditionally, he doesn't let us play in this game, but if he wants me to play, I'll play. We’re going to go out there and try to improve this week as a team and improve in practice. But me sitting here and making a bunch of predictions in two weeks away, I don’t understand what the point is of that."
Bill Belichick has already indicated that Brady will not play in New England's final preseason matchup against the Giants.
And as for Chad Ochocinco's Tweet that Brady called him after Friday's game and told him his shoulder is fine?
"Yeah, I don't remember talking to him," the quarterback said. "Ochocinco is a bit evasive at times."
