The Carter family of Waltham was the winner of this year’s RE/MAX of New England Home Court Program contest, and in return the Celtics and RE/MAX of New England gave the family a home basketball court renovation on Wednesday.

The new home basketball court was dedicated by Celtics guard Eddie House and Celtics legend Cedric Maxwell. In addition to the court, the Celtics and RE/MAX of New England unveiled a Celtics-themed bedroom makeover in the home of the family.

The Carters were selected as the winning family  from dozens of candidates who sent in letters detailing why they were in need of a home court makeover.

“I’d like to congratulate the Carter family on winning the contest,” House said. “It was a lot of fun to dedicate the family’s brand new home basketball court. I really enjoyed shooting around with everyone and meeting all the neighborhood kids at the clinic.”

The court makeover consisted of a driveway and court resealing, a brand new basket stanchion, backboard, electronic scoreboard, ball rack and additional Celtics gear. The bedroom makeover featured a complete Celtics theme, with comforter, rug, flags and other Celtics decorations. After the makeover, House played a game of HORSE with the family and neighborhood kids.

“RE/MAX of New England is proud to provide the Carter family with a home court makeover,” RE/MAX of New England Executive Vice President and Regional Director Jay Hummer said.  “We’re thrilled to once again partner with the Celtics for this unique contest, and for the first time give a bedroom makeover to each family along with their new home court.”

After the dedication of the new home court, House and Maxwell also conducted a free community
basketball clinic for 100 local youths at the Waltham Boys & Girls
Club.
