Jimmy Fund Annual Trip to Red Sox Spring Training Very few people have the chance to head to Florida during spring training and play with Red Sox stars, but thanks to the Jimmy Fund, a number of patients from the Boston area have the opportunity each year.

There’s not much better in the world than giving kids the opportunity to meet and play with some of their baseball idols.

“I get just as much out of it by coming out here and helping them or just talking with them as I feel they get from me,” said Sox shortstop Jed Lowrie.

“It’s a great thing that goes on here,” echoed Kevin Youkilis, “to be able to boost their hopes up and make them feel a little bit better for the day.”
