The injuries keep piling up, the losses keep rolling in, and things seem to be getting worse for the Red Sox.

The team announced that shortstop Jed Lowrie was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday (retroactive to August 7) with ulnar neuritis in his left wrist.

Right-handed pitcher Enrique Gonzalez was called up from Triple-A Pawtucket to fill his spot on the roster.

The 25-year-old shortstop, who spent the first half of the season on the disabled list recovering from wrist surgery, has played 19 games with Boston in 2009.
