Martinez Behind the Plate for Wakefield's Return to Red Sox The lineup carousel continues to spin for the Red Sox, with Jason Varitek, who went 1-for-3 Tuesday night, getting a seat on the bench to begin the game on Wednesday night. Victor Martinez, as expected, will catch for Tim Wakefield, who will pitch for the first time since going on the DL in July.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” Martinez told redsox.com. “I’ve had a chance to catch four or five of his [bullpen sessions]. But we’ll see what happens [Wednesday]. I’m pretty excited.

“You don’t have to look pretty catching it,” he added. “You just have to make sure that you catch it.”

Martinez entered Tuesday’s game as a pinch-hitter for Alex Gonzalez, going 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs in the Red Sox’ 6-3 victory.

Mike Lowell is also out of the lineup for Wednesday, with Kevin Youkilis starting at third and Casey Kotchman getting the start at first.

For the White Sox, Ozzie Guillen must have liked what he saw out of Jayson Nix on Tuesday night, as the rookie was moved to leadoff spot. The 27-year-old went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an RBI single against the Red Sox on Tuesday while batting ninth. Scott Podsednik, who batted leadoff in the first two games of the series, is out of the lineup for Wednesday.
