There's no getting out of this one for Marshawn Lynch.
The Bills running back, who appealed a three-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy, was denied by the league on Monday. He will miss all of September, beginning on the fifth — the week before the Bills take on New England — and ending on the 28th, the day after they face New Orleans.
Lynch will be able to participate in preseason practices and games before the suspension begins.
"We are disappointed, obviously," Bills coach Dick Jauron told ESPN.com. "We'll lose a real good football player for three games. But hopefully, Marshawn has learned a good deal from it."
The suspension stems from a February incident wherein Lynch pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor gun charge in Los Angeles. Police searched his parked car and found a 9mm semiautomatic handgun in a backpack in his trunk, an offense that resulted in 80 hours of community service and three years probation.
Lynch was also involved in a hit-and-run accident in May 2008.
The 22-year-old Pro Bowler was selected by the Bills with the 12th pick in the 2007 draft. In two years, he has rushed for 2,151 yards and 15 touchdowns.
