The NHL announced on Monday that there will be random ticket drawings beginning on Sept. 15 at 12 p.m. and run through Oct. 5 for the game between the Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers at Fenway Park on New Year's Day. Fans can enter their e-mail addresses on NHL.com, and the winners will be notified by Oct. 20 and will be allowed to purchase one pair of tickets.
The price of the tickets ranges from $50 to $350.
Though the drawings won't begin until September, fans can register with an e-mail address now to receive updates on jersey and merchandise sale dates, event construction and entertainment plans, player interviews and any other information.
Owners of season tickets for both the Bruins and the Flyers will be notified later this month with details on how they can purchase tickets.
Some lucky members of local youth hockey teams will also get the chance to see the game in person, as the Boston Bruins Foundation will reserve a certain number of tickets for them.
It may not seem possible that tens of thousands of folks are willing to sit outside in freezing temperatures to watch hockey together, but the past two events have proven that fans jump at the opportunity. In Buffalo in 2008, all 74,000 seats at Ralph Wilson Stadium were purchased within 20 minutes of going on sale. Last January, there were more than 240,000 ticket requests for the game at Wrigley Field between the Blackhawks and Red Wings.
