Dustin Pedroia will not be in the lineup for Tuesday's series opener in Toronto. Pedroia flew to Boston to be with his pregnant wife, Kelli. According to Boston.com, he made it to the hospital in time to be with Kelli for the birth of their first child, a healthy, 7-pound, 20 1/2-inch baby boy they named Dylan.

Pedroia missed a game earlier in the season when Kelli went into labor prematurely. He then missed the All-Star Game in St. Louis to be with her in the hospital.

In other lineup news, Jason Varitek is out with a sore neck and J.D. Drew, who wasn't expected to play until Wednesday due to a strained groin, is starting in right field. Kevin Youkilis also returns to the lineup after serving his five-game suspension. David Ortiz was not in the original lineup against lefty Ricky Romero, but was inserted when Varitek was scratched.

The complete lineup for Tuesday is below:

1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
2. J.D. Drew, RF

4. Kevin Youkilis, 1B
5. Jason Bay, LF
6. Mike Lowell, 3B
