Rangers Acquire Ivan Rodriguez From Astros It didn't take long for the Rangers to fill the void left by Jarrod Saltalamacchia's trip to the disabled list, as the Rangers reacquired the best catcher to ever wear a Rangers uniform.

Texas traded two minor leaguers to Houston for Ivan Rodriguez, according to The Dallas Morning News. The report says that Rodriguez, now 37, will serve as the backup to Taylor Teagarden.

Rodriguez spent 12 seasons in Texas before leaving the team in 2003, when he won a World Series with the Marlins. In 1,479 games for the Rangers, Pudge batted .305 with 215 home runs and 829 RBIs. He won the American League MVP in 1999, when he batted .332 with career highs in homers (35) and RBIs (113).

In his 19 seasons with the Rangers, Marlins, Tigers, Yankees and Astros, he is a .299 hitter and has thrown out 46 percent of attempted base stealers.
