The Boston Red Sox announced the signing of 10 players selected in this year's MLB draft, including David Renfroe (SS, third round), Madison Younger (pitcher, seventh round), Kendal Volz (pitcher, ninth round) and Brandon Jacobs (OF, 10th round).

The Sox also signed Alex Hassan, a right-handed pitcher from Milton, Mass., who was a four-year letter winner at Boston College High School.

Also signed were late rounders Jason Thompson, Miles Head, Reynolds Pathermore and Eric Curtis.

Renfroe, 18, played both shortstop and pitcher at South Panola (Miss.) High School, hitting .470 with six doubles, four triples, seven home runs, 35 RBIs, 39 runs scored, 20 walks and 18 stolen bases as a senior in 2009.

Volz, 21, pitched at Baylor University, where his 228 strikeouts over 224 2/3 innings rank ninth on the school’s career strikeout list.

Jacobs, 18, hit .507 with six home runs and 31 RBIs in his season year in 2009 at Parkview (Ga.) High School.
