The 30 NHL players association team player representatives met late on Sunday night and made a decision to fire executive director Paul Kelly, according to TSN.ca.
Kelly served as the head of the NHLPA for less than two years and came under fire recently, leading to a recent decision to appoint four board members and two advisory members to review Kelly's work and determine if he is still suitable for the job.
Apparently, he didn't pass the test.
According to the Web site, it took 12 hours for the representatives to decide to relieve Kelly of his duties. Kelly spent those 12 hours waiting in the hallway outside the boardroom before getting the news sometime before 4 a.m.
Kelly took over for former executive director Ted Saskin, who was fired in 2007 after allegedly monitoring players' confidential emails.
