Thornton to Cook Dinner for Homeless Veterans

Bruins forward Shawn Thornton and his wife, Erin, are teaming up with chef Kevin Cottle of Plymouth, Mass., to cook a special dinner for 220 homeless veterans. The dinner will take place at the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans in Boston on Aug. 20 from 3:45 to 5:45 p.m.

The Thorntons and Cottle will begin preparing the dinner at the shelter at 3:45 p.m., and will serve it to the veterans while having a meet and greet with each veteran.

Thornton is entering his third season with the Bruins this year after helping the team finish first in the Eastern Conference in 2008-09.

Cottle, who grew up in Plymouth and now resides in Middleton, Conn., is an internationally acclaimed chef and is currently the executive chef at the Country Club in Farmington, Conn.
