Yankee Fans Enduring Life in Boston In a city of roughly 8.3 million people, it’s not hard to find someone like yourself in New York City — even if you’re a Red Sox fan.

The same can’t be said, however, for Yankee fans living in the much smaller (and a bit more provincial) city of Boston.

That fact hasn’t stopped scores of Yankee fans from utilizing the power of the Internet to get together and invade Boston bars with their Evil Empire garb. Thanks to the Boston-Area New York Yankee Fan Meetup group, folks wearing Jeter and Rodriguez on their backs have increasingly begun to rub shoulders with those wearing Pedroia and Ortiz.

“I think a lot of people were just looking for some other people to watch the game with in peace and be able to root for the Yankees,” said Phil Brown, a Yankee fan, to NESN’s John Carchedi.

Carchedi was surprised to find that the Yankee crew he ran into was a “kindler, gentler group of sports fans” who were even open to a man-hug or two.
