After leading two scoring drives in the final minutes of play on Monday to stave off a disappointing loss against Buffalo, Tom Brady was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week by the NFL for the 13th time in his career.
Brady completed 39 of his 53 pass attempts for 378 yards and two touchdowns in the 25-24 win over the Bills in the Patriots' season opener. It was the 29th time in his career that he led the Patriots to victory after trailing or being tied in the fourth quarter.
During the final two scoring drives, both of which resulted in touchdown passes to Ben Watson, Brady completed 11 passes for 112 yards.
The 39 completions against the Bills are the most in Brady's career in a non-overtime game and he tied his overall career high. The last time he had 39 completions was against Kansas City on Sept. 22, 2002, in a 41-38 overtime win at Gillette Stadium.
