The Redskins just might have the advantage over the Giants when the two square off for their season opener this weekend.
Recent New York castoff Andre Woodson, who was selected by the Giants in the 2008 draft, spent last season on the New York practice squad. He spent the entire 2009 preseason with the team before being released. Now, he's Washington's practice squad quarterback a convenient six days before the Redskins face the Giants.
The Giants did everything they could to make sure the Redskins won't have a spy in their camp this week — they made Woodson turn in his playbook, of course — but if Woodson is playing with a chip on his shoulder, New York better watch out. He could have a lot to tell, and he doesn't sound happy about being cut.
"The day it happened was a depressing day, a frustrating day," Woodson told The Washington Post. "Knowing I have another chance another situation to possibly get on the roster — or eventually get on a roster — is pretty positive. So we'll see where it goes from there."
Still, Woodson insists there are no hard feelings toward the Giants.
"I know it's the nature of the league," he told the Post. "Now I'm playing for Washington, so I have to root for the Redskins."
According to sources in New York, Woodson was cut because he couldn't learn New York's offense. On that note, maybe he won't be that much help to the Redskins.
