A collective sigh of relief was heard throughout Red Sox Nation two weeks ago when Jerry Remy reappeared in NESN’s play-by-play booth at Fenway Park alongside Don Orsillo. It was very comforting to see the RemDawg back at the old ballpark, and that is where the Nation will be seeing him the rest of this season.

Remy, who has missed the majority of the 2009 Red Sox season to fully recover from the effects of cancer surgery, has announced that he will only be doing home games for the rest of the Red Sox season. The announcement was made through his Twitter page and is effective immediately.

The Red Sox have 15 more home games this season, with their next contest coming Tuesday, Sept. 8. Jerry and Don will wrap up the 2009 regular season together on Oct. 4 when the Red Sox host the Cleveland Indians in the regular-season finale at Fenway Park.
