Contrary to an earlier report, Phil Kessel is offering a glimmer of hope for Bruins fans hoping to see the 21-year-old wear Black and Gold for many seasons to come.
The restricted free agent told sportsnet.ca that he hasn't cut off talks with the Bruins regarding a contract.
"I don't know who is saying that, but it's not true," Kessel told the Web site.
That, however, doesn't necessarily mean he'll be back in Boston, as Kessel mentioned that the negotiations have been "unpleasant" and "the odds of playing for the Bruins are slim at this point."
"You can never say never," Kessel said. "They are doing what they think is best for them. It's just business."
