The Mets might not be in postseason contention this season, but at least they will have the front end of their rotation back for the 2010 season.

Left-handed pitchers Johan Santana and Oliver Perez each underwent successful surgery on Tuesday morning at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. Both procedures were done by Mets medical director Dr. David Altchek.

Santana had arthroscopic removal of multiple bone fragments from his left elbow, and Perez underwent successful removal of scar tissue from the patella tendon of his right knee. Both pitchers are expected to make full recoveries and be ready for spring training in the 2010 season.
