It didn't take long for former Patriots backup quarterback Kevin O'Connell to find a new job.

According to the Globe, the Detroit Lions picked up the former Pats' quarterback just one day after New England released him. Detroit had first dibs on the 24-year-old quarterback thanks to last season's 0-16 record.

O'Connell, the Pats' third round pick in the 2008 draft, appeared in two games last season for the Pats, completing 4-of-6 pass attempts for 23 yards. The former San Diego State quarterback joins Daunte Culpepper, Drew Stanton, Brooks Bollinger and this April's No. 1 overall pick in the draft, Matthew Stafford.

Denver, Cleveland and the New York Jets also put claims in.
