The Patriots worked out defensive end Paul Spicer and defensive tackle Matthias Askew, according to a report in National Football Post.

Spicer, 34, was cut by the Saints on Sept. 5 after being cut by the Jaguars in February. He's played 10 seasons in the NFL — nine for Jacksonville — recording 257 tackles and 28 1/2 sacks.

Askew, 27, has a far smaller NFL resume, amassing five total tackles in just six games for the Cincinnati Bengals.
