On Wednesday, the Rangers won their third game in 24 hours, slapping a 10-0 thrashing on the Indians and coming away with a three-game sweep of the series.
Scott Feldman earned his 16th win of the season after throwing seven innings of shutout ball, allowing five hits and fanning five.
Fausto Carmona continued to struggle for the Indians, putting his team in an insurmountable hole before the end of the first inning. He was pulled after allowing a three-run homer and a two-run homer in 2/3 of an inning. Reliever Jensen Lewis held things down for 3 1/3 innings, allowing zero runs and just two hits, and Mike Gosling's four shutout innings helped Cleveland's cause as well until Rafael Perez allowed five runs (three earned) in the ninth to officially put the nail in the coffin.
Texas got off to a quick start, homering twice in the bottom of the first — Marlon Byrd and Ivan Rodriguez both went deep — to chase Carmona early and race out to a 5-0 lead. The Rangers would not score again until the ninth, when they scored five more runs, all on singles.
Byrd's four RBIs led the way for Texas, while Rodriguez finished 2-for-5 with three RBIs. Shortstop Elvis Andrus went 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI, and third baseman Esteban German went a perfect 5-for-5 with a run and an RBI.
Throughout the course of the three-game sweep, Texas scored a whopping 31 runs.
