Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner has been activated off the disabled after being out of the lineup since July 25 when he broke his left thumb sliding into second base.

Gardner injured the thumb with a headfirst slide in the Yankees' 6-4 loss to the A's. He remained in the game that day, going 1-for-3 with a triple and a diving catch following the slide.

Gardner will start in center field and hit ninth in the first game of a day-night doubleheader against the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday.
