Winger Guillaume Lefebvre had some big shoes to fill over the weekend, but on Monday morning, his services were no longer needed.

Boston Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli announced on Monday that the club has assigned Lefebvre — who took the place of an injured Milan Lucic on Saturday — to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Providence Bruins.

Lefebvre was recalled from Providence to Boston on an emergency basis on Saturday, Oct. 17 and made his Bruins debut in the team’s 4-1 loss in Phoenix. Invited to Boston’s training camp on a tryout agreement, Lefebvre signed a one-year contract on Sept. 26. He has one assist and 42 penalty minutes in five games this year for Providence.
