The Bruins shook things up on their roster and in their farm system on Sunday by trading forward Chuck Kobasew to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for a second-round draft choice in 2011, the rights to
unsigned draft pick Alexander Fallstrom and forward Craig Weller.
Fallstrom, a freshman at Harvard University, was selected in the fourth round (116th overall) of the 2009 NHL
Entry Draft. A native of Gothenburg, Sweden, Fallstrom played for Brinken,
Lindigo and Djurgarden in Sweden before moving to Minnesota where he
attended Shattuck St. Mary’s School from 2007-2009.
Weller, a fifth-round selection of the St. Louis Blues in the 2000 NHL
Entry Draft (167th overall), has scored four goals and posted 10 assists in 95 career NHL games with the
Coyotes and Wild. He has one assist and seven penalty minutes in five games for the Houston Aeros of the AHL this season.
Kobasew was acquired by the Bruins along with Andrew Ference from
Calgary in exchange for Brad Stuart, Wayne Primeau and a 2008 fourth-round
draft pick on Feb. 10, 2007. In seven games with the Bruins this season, Kobasew has one assist and two penalty
minutes. He has played in 368 career NHL games, recording 78 goals and 77 assists for 155 points.
