It's been a pretty easy transition from the college ranks to the NFL for Giants rookie wide receiver Hakeem Nicks. Nicks was named the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Month for October on Wednesday, capping off an excellent month for one of the Giants' most dangerous offensive threats.

Nicks, a first-round pick in the 2009 draft, caught 14 passes for 297 yards and four touchdowns in the month to earn the honor. With 16 catches for 315 yards this season, he leads the Giants in yards per catch with 19.7.

"I’m very excited about (the award)," Nicks told the New York Daily News. "Just don’t want to let it get to the head. Just keep on doing what I’m doing."

Nicks has a touchdown in four straight games for the Giants, going back all the way back to the Giants' Week 4 win against Kansas City. He has a chance to break the record for receptions by a Giants rookie, which was set by Jeremy Shockey with 74 in 2002. He also has a chance to break Bill Swiacki's record for touchdown catches by a rookie of 10.
