STORRS, Conn. — A Hartford man is being held on a $100,000 bond on charges stemming from a fight outside a dance at the University of Connecticut where a football player was fatally stabbed.

Johnny Hood, 21, was charged with interfering with an officer and breach of peace. He was arraigned Monday morning in Rockville Superior Court.

He has not been charged with the stabbing death of 20-year-old Jasper Howard of Miami. Hartford police Major Ronald Blicher says authorities are not anticipating any "significant changes in the investigation" Monday.

An incident report says Hood was identified by witnesses as being involved in the altercation, and gave police a false name.

Howard died from a single stab wound to the abdomen early Sunday morning after a school-sponsored dance. There were roughly 300 people in the area when the stabbing occurred.

"We're pursuing active investigative leads," UConn police Maj. Ronal Blicher told the AP. "The investigation will continue into this week."

The incident took place hours after UConn won its homecoming game 38-25 over Louisville.
