Police have interviewed dozens of witnesses but are still searching for a suspect in the murder of a University of Connecticut football player, according to The Associated Press.

Jasper Howard died from a single stab wound to the abdomen early Sunday morning after a school-sponsored dance. There were roughly 300 people in the area when the stabbing occurred.

"We're pursuing active investigative leads," UConn police Maj. Ronal Blicher told the AP. "The investigation will continue into this week."

The incident took place hours after UConn won its homecoming game 38-25 over Louisville.
