Braylon Edwards, one of the Jets' biggest wideout threats, will be a little distracted during the days leading up to New York's Week 11 battle in New England. That's because he'll be sitting in a Cleveland courtroom thanks to a recent assault charge.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that the former Browns receiver has been charged with misdemeanor assault on Monday.

Edwards was involved in an altercation outside of a downtown Cleveland nightclub where he reportedly punched promoter Edward Givens, a friend of Cavaliers star LeBron James, who is rumored to have a less-than-wonderful relationship with the receiver. Just days later, the wide receiver was dealt to the Jets, where he has nine receptions for 118 yards and one touchdown in three games.

Edwards will be arraigned on Nov. 17, just five days before the Jets take on the Patriots at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. If convicted, Edwards faces a sentence of up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
