Kendrick Perkins and Marquis Daniels, along with Celtics in-arena host "Coach" Willie Maye, will host an assembly honoring high-achieving students and encouraging children to stay in school, tipping off the 19th season of the Boston Celtics Stay in School Program.

The event will take place on Friday morning at the Mildred Avenue Middle School in Mattapan and will "encourage all children to take pride in their classroom work."

The program is presented by Arbella Insurance and is a collaboration of efforts from the Celtics, the New England Sports Museum, the Northeastern University Center for the Study of Sport in Society and the Boston Public Schools.

Friday's event is the first of numerous that will be held throughout the school year, as Celtics players will help motivate students to work hard. At the end of the year, top students will be honored for academic achievement and perfect attendance.
