Although the story of the day was linebacker Junior Seau's return to the practice field, a pair of important Patriots were held off the pitch Wednesday — wide receiver Randy Moss and defensive end Ty Warren.

Moss missed practice due to a non-injury-related issue while Warren was sidelined with a calf injury.

Warren has accumulated 17 total tackles through the Pats' first five games this season, including four solo tackles in Sunday's overtime loss to the Broncos.

Moss caught one pass for 36 yards in the Week 5 defeat and has 30 receptions on the season for 367 yards while tallying just one touchdown.

Running back Fred Taylor (ankle) and tackle Matt Light (knee) also sat out Wednesday's practice.
