Joe Girardi isn't about to mess around with his rotation during the World Series. The Yankees manager has decided to bring back ace CC Sabathia on short rest for Game 4 of the World Series on Sunday in Philadelphia, the Journal News reports.

Girardi was originally tempted with the idea of starting Chad Gaudin in Game 4 to give Sabathia extra rest, but that plan was thrown out the window when the Yankees lost the first game of the series. Had the Yankees gone on to take a 3-0 series lead, Gaudin likely would have started Game 4.

Sabathia allowed two runs on four hits in seven innings in Game 1 of the World Series for his first loss of the postseason, after going a combined 3-0 in the ALDS and ALCS. He will face the Phillies' Joe Blanton in Game 4.
