Alex Ovechkin Set to Return to Capitals on Tuesday NEWARK, N.J. — Two-time reigning league MVP Alex Ovechkin appears set to return from his injury layoff when the Washington Capitals visit the New York Rangers on Tuesday night.

Asked after Monday morning's practice whether Ovechkin would be back in the lineup, coach Bruce Boudreau told reporters: "As of today, he is."

Ovechkin sustained an upper-body injury against Columbus on Nov. 1. The Southeast Division-leading Capitals have won four of six games since he was hurt.

Ovechkin has 14 goals and nine assists this season. He says he's ready to go, but would wait to see how he's feeling Tuesday.
