Breakfast Blend: Anthony Kim Has Seen Better Days

Comment of the day
The Bruins’ victory over the Sabres in Saturday’s division tilt at the Garden was just what the Hub of hockey needed. Goals, fights, goals, big hits, goals, solid penalty killing and … did I mention goals? It was one of the most exciting Bruins games of the young season. One NESN.com reader, BostonSports ThenNow, thought the Bruins “caught a break.” Another reader disagreed:

“Caught a break? I wish more fans would praise the Bruins when they actually played a good game. The Bruins exploited the Sabres defense all night, made them pay on the man advantage, had several short handed opportunities, were excellent on the penalty kill (Sabres were 0-7 on the power play), had very solid goaltending all night and were very physical.

“They played like a team and won like a team. Keep in mind that the Sabres rookie goaltender made some very key saves which kept the score from reaching 5-2, 6-2, or possibly even 7-2. Also, I don’t think the presence of Miller would have made much of an impact on this game. He has been struggling lately and let in 4 goals against the Flyers Friday night and don’t forget the game against the Islanders last week when Miller was pulled for letting in too many goals in a short period of time.

“To me this was a solid performance by the Bruins and a very well deserved win. I don’t think they caught a break, they beat the team who is in 1st place in the northeast division through team effort and the fact that their hard work is starting to pay off and chances and bounces are finally going their way. I’m very happy to see this team start to wake up and get into a solid stride.”
