Still searching for someone or something to ignite his lackluster offense, Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli has recently reached out to free agent Peter Forsberg, according to ESPN.com.

Chiarelli recently met with Forsberg's agent, Don Baizley, at the GM meetings in Toronto about the possibility of adding the 36-year-old center to the B's attack.

"I've had some discussions with Don Baizley on him and we had people scouting him last week," Chiarelli said. "It's something that we certainly would look at exploring."

The 12-year veteran has 249 goals and 636 assists for 885 points in 706 career games with the Nordiques, Avalanche, Flyers and Predators. Forsberg has never scored more than 30 goals in a single season, but the
6-foot, 205-pounder has tallied at least 100 points twice in his career
— 116 points in 1995-96 and 106 points in 2002-03. Forsberg also owns a career plus-241 rating.

The Canucks, Flyers and Rangers are also believed to be in pursuit of the Swede, who played for his native land in an international tournament last week in front of many NHL scouts.
