Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes in the Celtics' locker room? Want to be a more involved Celtics fan without having to pay for tickets? You're in luck.

According to The Boston Globe, the team recently began distributing locker-room footage on YouTube and has launched 3-Point Play, an interactive prediction game fans can play on the Celtics' Facebook page. In addition, the Celtics are utilizing Twitter to its fullest by sending out news conference quotes to 21,000 followers and offering seat upgrades.

Additionally, Celtics.com has launched GameTime Live, a program with real-time scores, tweets and blogging.

"Now that we're at this sold-out state, it's more difficult to get into the game, and fans can't get tickets," team president Rich Gotham told the Globe. "We want to make sure we don't forget about those fans. We want to keep them interested and keep them loyal."

Statistics show that traffic on Celtics-centered Web sites increases during games, indicating there is a demand for a more interactive fan experience. GameTime Live helps to fulfill that.

The Globe reports that the Celtics are the second-most popular NBA team on Facebook with 445,000 fans – behind the Lakers, unsurprisingly.

Celtics.com hopes to further its fan interaction by streaming games live early next year.

"The last thing we want to do is sit on our hands," Gotham said. "Our popularity has reached an all-time high, and we want to take advantage of the opportunity to build a bigger fan base so that during leaner times that will pay us back."
