The defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins are reeling after four straight losses, in which they've been outscored 17-3, but there may finally be light at the end of this brief, nightmarish tunnel.
Forward Evgeni Malkin — who led the NHL with 113 points last year and was the playoff MVP during the Penguins' Stanley Cup run — hopes to return to the ice against the Bruins on Saturday after missing two weeks while nursing a shoulder strain.
"[My shoulder] feels great," Malkin told NHL.com. "It's not sore, no pain. We'll see [Saturday] at the morning skate. Maybe I'll be playing. [Saturday] is a big day for me. We'll see after practice how my shoulder feels, and if it feels good, then I'll play."
With just one goal in their past three games, the Penguins certainly could use their leading scorer as they look to snap an early-season skid.
Boston beat Pittsburgh 3-0 on Tuesday.
