The Blue Jays' front office hasn't been commended for many deals, trades or acquisitions in recent years (see also: Vernon Wells, B.J. Ryan), but it appears that the Jays have finally pulled one out of their hats this offseason. By acquiring Alex Gonzalez and re-signing John McDonald, the Jays' shortstop position is full.

Now, they are able to let Marco Scutaro go to the highest bidder and, in return, receive a pair of draft picks. One NESN.com reader is quite impressed.

"the Blue Jays knew we had interest in Scuturo and snatched up Alex Gonzalez, increasing our level of need even more. And now we're gonna have to give them draft picks when we sign him. pretty good move by the Blue Jays."
