Leigh Bodden Named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

Patriots cornerback Leigh Bodden picked off Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez three times in the Patriots' 31-14 win over the Jets on Sunday. For his impressive defensive effort, Bodden was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week by the NFL on Wednesday.

Bodden's three interceptions were a career-high in a single game, leading him to earn the Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career. He returned one of the interceptions for a touchdown and had two picks in one game for the second time in his career.The touchdown was Bodden's second, and it was the first time he has returned an interception for a touchdown.

It is the fifth time the Patriots have been honored with an AFC Player of the Week award this season. Quarterback Tom Brady was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week following Weeks 1 and 6. Safety Brandon Meriweather was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week following Week 7, and kicker Stephen Gostkowski was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week following Week 9. Brady was also named Offensive Player of the Month for October.
