Marc Savard Not Giving Up Hope on Making Team Canada The chances of the Bruins' Marc Savard making the Canadian Olympic Team this winter were never really in his favor. And a broken left foot early this season hasn't exactly helped his cause.

Savard didn't receive an invitation to Team Canada's summer camp, and many believed him to be a long shot to make the club from the get-go.

"I had an uphill climb from the start with this," Savard told the Boston Herald. "This [injury] has made it tougher, that’s for sure."

After missing the majority of the first two months of the season, Savard has been unable to showcase his abilities to the decision makers responsible for selecting the Olympic team. And as the Winter Games in Vancouver draw closer, the longer Savard is out, the worse his chances of making the club become.

"I had a decent start," Savard told the Herald. "I want to be better, and hopefully I’m going to come back and play as well as I can. [An Olympic berth is] in the back of my mind; I haven’t counted myself out. Decisions are made for a lot of reasons. There [are] always going to be issues like I have right now. So I’m going to keep working, keep playing my game and we’ll see what happens."

There is still time for Savard to make a healthy recovery from his foot injury and put up some impressive numbers. Will it be enough to earn a spot on Team Canada? He can only hope.
