Patrice Bergeron took a shot off the ankle on Saturday night but returned to finish out the game. The 24-year-old alternate captain was not at practice on Monday, however, according to NESN.com's James Murphy.

Bergeron got stuck out of position shorthanded on Saturday and lunged to block a shot from the point off the stick of Filip Kuba (video here, at :53 mark). Bergeron made two separate visits to the locker room, but returned to finish the game with 16:01 of ice time.

Head coach Claude Julien was confident enough in Bergeron to have him open the shootout, but Bergeron couldn't finish his attempt. After the game, Julien was adamant that Bergeron was only limited because of the shot.

"I am going to be clear on that," Julien said. "He didn’t roll his ankle or anything. It was the result of the shot. He left and he came back. I just spoke to him a little while ago. He feels fine and hopefully that is the end of it."
