Since high school, Randy Moss has found his name in the newspaper for the wrong reasons. However, his efforts to rebuild the athletic fields and locker rooms for his former middle school represent the side of Moss that not many people get to see.

Moss and his company Randy Moss Enterprises have completely refurbished the fieldhouse of DuPont Middle School in Belle, W. Va., the Beckley Register-Herald reports. The new facilities include new weightlifting equipment, new home and visitor locker rooms, a players' lounge and some renovations to the coaches' office, restrooms and laundry rooms.

"I've been hearing from my team [at Randy Moss Enterprises] that everyone is real excited in the community," Moss told the newspaper. "It has already brought a smile to a lot of kids' faces. That is enough for me."

Moss, who was an All-American in his days at DuPont, said he feels a connection to his former school.

"It's my community and my neighborhood," he said. "When those guys strap on that helmet on Thursday night, it's the same helmet I used to strap on. This is permanent. It's something that will be there always. It’s not like giving an autograph or a jersey that will fade or go away. It's permanent. It will also pass down through the midget league system for the kids that are coming in the future. I'm really excited about it."
